Thank you for joining the Unique Gymnastics program. We truly appreciate the opportunity to meet and work together with you and your children. Unique Gymnastics has over 80 members on our 09/10 Competitive Team. we offer USAG Women's Competitive programs training Level 4-10 as well as Trampoline and Tumbling.  We are also very active and committed to the USAG Talent Opportunity Program (TOPs). Although competitive gymnastics involves discipline and hard work, we pride ourselves in maintaining a fun and positive atmosphere for our gymnasts. Participation in the team program is by invitation only. Gymnasts transferring from other gym programs must be evaluated before entering our team program.

The Unique Sports Academy provides positive sports programs for children of all ages and abilities. Each program is a division of Universal Sports & Academics, Inc.

Race to Benefit: Unique Sports Academy promotes fitness, education and positive social values for children of all ages and abilities. We are home to the Maryland SuperStarz All-Star Cheerleading,Unique Gymnastics USAG, and Rampage Wrestling Competitive Team, the Royal Martial Arts & Gemini Combat Teams and our community recreational sports programs. Our goal is to provide each child a complete range of physical and mental challenges promoting strength, power, flexibility, agility, confidence, discipline and positive attitude to compete locally, regionally, and nationally in sports and prepare for life’s challenges.

With participants from Charles, P.G., Calvert and St. Mary’s counties, our youth sports activities provide a safe place with structured and positive programs for thousands of children within our Southern Maryland communities.

TUITION PAYMENTS ARE DUE THE FIRST (1st day) OF THE MONTH  All tuition is due the 1st of the month. A late fee is assessed on the 6th. If you are on a two payment plan, please see Leta to be sure your second payment if made on the 1st.  Assessment/Competition fees are due on the 15th of August, October, December and February. A late fee will be applied on the 16th of each month. No exceptions!

If you have not already done so, please check your folders in the Gym Pro Shop for new registration forms. Every athlete in our sports programs (cheer, gymnastics, wrestling, martial arts and rec programs) must submit a completed form. If you have multiple children enrolled, please complete the front side only once, but complete the back side for each child.  

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED...  Parents, Aunts, Uncles, Friends of Gymnasts -- we need your help! Shown below is a detailed list of VOLUNTEER POSITIONS (with responsibilities) which we need to fill ASAP!  Committee Chairpersons receive 50 points and Sub-Committee members receive 35 points towards their families Family Participation Points as described in the Contract Addendum.

 

COMMITTEES

Hosted Gymnastics Meet Committee:  Planning should begin months in advance. This committee is responsible for the planning and running of any home meets.

 

   Chairperson: Works closely with the Unique Meet Coordinator/Director to manage

          all sub-committees.

 

   Sub-Committees include:

 

   Clerical (2 people):

       - Organize all administrative work that is involved with organizing meets.

       - Prepare all Meet Information for mailings as negotiated with the Event Chairperson

             (e.g., meet flier, competition itinerary, etc.)

 

   Decorations/Gymnast Gifts (3 people):

       - Plan and purchase decorations for all home meets

       - Design/Prepare march-in signs

       - Decorate gym, entrance way and awards areas

       - Clean up/store decorations (and march-in signs) after Meet

       - Coordinate/prepare gymnasts gifts for all home meets

       - Organize donations/collections of door prizes and raffle items for all home meets

 

   Hospitality (4 people)

       - Plan and prepare meals for the judges, snacks for the coaches for all sessions during

              all hosted events.

       - Set-up and clean the judges dining area before, during and after all home meets

       - Serve the judges meals

       - Supply scoring tables with candy and water during each session

       - Set-up the “Judges Parking Only” signs in the parking lot

       - Set-up and clean the coaches break area before during and after all home meets

 

   Site (2 people)

       - Organize the set-up/tear down of the gym for all hosted meets. 

               The actual set-up and tear down is done by all parents.

       - Work with Meet Coordinator on layout of the gym and direct set-up, to include gym clean-up

 

Social Committee: Plans any non-profit activities such as pizza parties, family parties, parent get-togethers, sleep-overs, Holiday parties, annual banquet, etc... Also plans something to recognize gymnasts during championships, such as good luck cards or gifts.  Notify Universal Sports and Academics if the event is on site and reserve the area of the facility needed.

 

   Chairperson: manage all sub-committees and report monthly status to Unique Gymnastics Director

       - Plan, Coordinate and Host Holiday Party

       - Annual Awards Banquet (2)

       - Plan, Coordinate and Host Annual Awards Banquet



Team Media Relations Committee (1 Person per level): Promotes gymnast’s achievements by providing articles, pictures and videos to Universal Sports and Academics on the happenings of meets, All-around winners, age group winners, records broken, championship/Zone/ National qualifiers and provides pictures when available.  Inquire from the coach on meet achievements and meet results.

 

Team Parent ( 1 Person Per Team): Team Parents are the spokesperson for each level.  Team Parents should try to attend all meetings to keep the parents informed of gym news, important information and facts and also make Team Coach and Unique Gymnastics Director aware of any problems. 

       - Notify Team Parents:

       - Schedule Changes

       - Meet information

       - Session Times

       - Meet Directions

       - Order flowers for the team for the State Meet

       - Encourage team spirit and promote fellowship and support among the team members

              (e.g., Good Luck Signs before meet/cards to the gymnasts).

       - Recognize team members on the birthday with a card from the team.

       - If a team member is sick or injured, encourage the team to keep the gymnast cheered up by

              sending cards, phone calls from teammates or schedule a visit from teammates.
